The truth behind money management at poker
Posted on August 22, 2009 by John Colby
The most important aspect of money management when playing poker, is that if the game is good and you're winning, keep playing. If you're the underdog, and you keep losing, stop playing!
There are just some of those days: you're not hitting a single card on the board, or you're not playing well because of things that have nothing to do with poker skills. You could be tired, or annoyed because you just had a fight with your friend, you feel ill or stressed out. In other words, you're not at full strength.
Think about this: playing poker successfully has to do with being in situations that you expect will work out in your advantage. This is also the reason why there are no professional roulette players. In that game, there is no long term chance of winning, because the odds are not to your advantage.
Here's a wise tip. While playing poker you can save a lot of money by using this rule: if you're not playing your best game, go home. Tomorrow is another day, with new chances and possibilities.
