Doyle Brunson

"Texas Dolly" was born in 1933, in Texas. Doyle wanted to become a professional basketball player, but just before he was going to play in the NBA he crushed his knee. He decided to go in a completely different direction and toured the underground poker circuit in the south of the US. He earned a lot of money with this, but also got robbed a number of times.

Doyle Brunson won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) two times in a row, in 1976 and 1977. In 1980 he became second after losing the finals to Stu Ungar.

In 1999, Brunson made the final table in the first edition of the Tournament of Champions, in which over 500 players competed. Doyle Brunson contributed a lot to the development of poker as we know it today. In 1978 he wrote a book called Doyle Brunson's Super System. He also has his own online poker room: Doyles Room.

Doyle Brunson currently lives in Las Vegas, where he plays poker at the Belaggio almost every day.
