Jack "Treetop" Straus

Jack Straus was called "Treetop" because he was almost 6 foot 8 inches tall and had a big, wild beard. Straus had the reputation of gambling every dollar in his pocket. He usually walked around with thousands of dollars tucked away in a brown paper bag. He would often lose what was in the bag and would be broke afterwards. His response was usually "That's life!".

Straus was considered one of the best No-Limit Hold'em players of his time. He won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 1982. Straus died in 1988 of a heart attack while playing high stakes poker in Los Angeles. His most legendary quote: "I've only got a limited amount of time on this earth, and I want to enjoy every second of it".
